A day of fun in the Brazilian Sun!

The Singers are now in Joinville.  After a great concert last night in a beautiful theatre we headed to the beach today.  Most Brazilians find the weather to be a bit chilly, but the Singers found it perfect for swimming in the ocean.

This morning we conducted another "scat" workshop with students and adults from Bom Jesus high school and college.  It was one of our most successful yet!

Prior to coming to Joinville we were in Jaurgua de Sul and had a great time with host families.  We had another great concert there!

Tomorrow we head to Curitiba and finish up our singing with another concert and workshop before heading to Rio for more fun in the sun.

Until next time,

To the Falls

After 13.5 hours on the bus yesterday we are finally almost at the Iguacu Falls. On the border of Brazil and Argentina, Igauacu Falls is spread over 2.5 miles in a horseshoe shape and fall 269 feet into the Iguacu River. They are the result of a volcanic eruption that happened about 100 million years ago. The falls are actually made up of 275 different falls or cataracts.

Before our long trip to the falls we have been in Lajeado and Santa Rosa. Two small beautiful cities that hosted us for a couple of nights. The people were wonderful and were very welcoming. We also made a quick stop in Ivoti. Here we perfomed another great concert and stayed with another set of great host families.

Until our next post!

What a Wonderful Country

Oi! (Hi in Portugeuse!)

After three flights and 36 hours of traveling we finally made it to Brazil on Sunday. We have been extremly busy performing at high schools, churches and community centers. The Brazilian people love us! Tonight we performed in a community center for over 650 people and received two standing ovations. We have also already sold out of all the CDs that we brought along to sell after the converts.

The Brazilian people are extremly welcoming and we have enjoyed staying in their homes and learning about their culture. Communition has been hard at times but we are slowing learning a little Portugeuse. Our hosts must think we are very skinny because they will not stop feeding us. Many of them prepare the traditional foods of the country and everything has been delicious.
We also want everyone to know that we are safe from the Swine Flu that is affecting many other parts on the world. The flu has not been confirmed in any parts of the country and we are all feeling great!

We hope everything is well in the US and we are not really sure we want to come back... the beautiful weather and amazing people of Brazil are two tempting reasons to stay longer!

Until our next post!
